Netflix Global Reach
During CES, In Las Vegas on January 6th, Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings made a announcement about Netflix Global Reach. Netflix announced its going to be reaching 130 additional countries. Now it can say Netflix is available in 190 countries. Netflix Media has a press release, regarding additions to the service. Netflix will not be available in China, though the company continues to explore options for providing the service. It also added 4 new languages (Arabic, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese) to the 17 it already supports. I will mention that the press release mentioned (In 2016, the company plans to release 31 new and returning original series, two dozen original feature films and documentaries, a wide range of stand-up comedy specials and 30 original kids series) although that’s not news parts of it were informative to me. There have long been rumors about Netflix going into the Chinese market (2nd largest economy in the world) and although that wasn’t announced, it seems as though Netflix adding Simplified and Traditional Chinese will make it a easier market to enter when the time is right.
